Lymph node removal and hot tubs

Hi!

I had all my lymph nodes removed on the right.

Currently having chemo.

Can I NEVER use a hot tub now I have a risk of lymphodemia? Or can I sit in it with my right arm not under the water??

I know it wouldn't be until after chemo, my next surgery and radiation... I live a hot tub and hoping I'd ve able to get vack in one when all my treatments are done?

If not I'd rather know so I can stop planning a spa break

  • Hello,

    Thank you for your inquiry.

I am sorry to hear you are having treatment for breast cancer. I hope the treatment is successful.

I have looked into this and was unable to locate any studies on hot tubs and the risk of lymphoedema. However a literature search revealed that there are concerns about heat, such as hot baths, causing or increasing the risk of lymphoedema. You may like to read our website here.

The best people to advise you would be your oncology team and specialist nurse.
