I am sorry to hear you are about to undergo a colonoscopy and appreciate this must be a worrying time for you.

No one can say at the moment what is causing your bowel changes and constipation but hopefully the colonoscopy will give you some more answers as to what is going on.

A positive FIT test means that a certain level of blood has been detected in your poo sample that needs further investigation. There can be many reasons for blood in poo and it doesn't automatically mean someone has cancer. Things like inflammatory bowel conditions, polyps, piles and constipation can all cause bleeding but something more serious like cancer also needs to be ruled out.

 Joewa hope you’ve had your colonoscopy now and everything was ok.  

Hi, sorry for late reply.

I had my colonoscopy and i have 5 polyps which were removed. The consultant advised the 2 were big but he believed that they where taken out in time. He sent them for biopsying.

He wants me to get rescoped in 1 year.

Im worried that its something untoward still.

 Joewa I can understand your anxiety but hopefully the biopsy results won’t take long and all will be ok. 

Thanks hope so.  Consultant was a bit flipant tbh . I asked if thats where the blood was coming from and he said youve probably got piles 

Well that should have been seen on your colonoscopy!  It’s all in a days work to them but as the patient we need answers and reassurance 

Yep absolutely.  If i dont hear anything 2 weeks post scope i will call for results

I take it no news is good news.

If i called the consultants secretary are the results likely to be back within a week

I think it takes at least two , she can tell you if they’re back but not the results as far as I’m aware .  The waiting is so stressful 

Yeah. For some reason im having problems with post also. Wonder if they will phone me.

Does my gp get the results at the same time?
