Fibrodenoma with implants

Hi I found a lump a few months back and had it checked out for the hospital to telle that they think it's a fibrodenoma, that was there exact words too, but they said also that because it was so close to my implants they couldn't do a biopsy on it and was told to go back in 3 months time, which I did and they said there was no change and again can't biopsy without the risk of rupturing the implants, so all they could say was to keep an eye on it and to go back if noticing any changes, but I don't know what changes to look for, I would of really preferred to have had a biopsy but also dont want to risk rupturing the implants either, what do i do in this situation please?

Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated

Also I've just read a post similar to this who also had implants and they had a biopsy done and turned out to be cancerous and now it's made panic again

  • Hello and thank you for your post,

I am sorry to hear about your situation and the worry that it is causing you.

It is difficult for us to comment as we are not involved in your care and don't have doctors who can give a medical opinion.

Fibroadenomas are common in your 30's and much more likely then a cancer diagnosis. Breast Cancer Now have information on fibroadenomas here

You may find it helpful to get in touch with Breast Cancer Now and see what they have to say about breast biopsies and implants. Have a look at their details here

I am sure that if the doctors at the breast clinic had concerns  they would have wanted to do further investigations.

I can understand that reading other peoples posts can make you more concerned about your own situation. If this is something that is concerning you then do discuss this with your GP.

If you notice any changes such as the  lump getting any bigger then do go back and discuss it with your doctors. You could also discuss your concerns with your GP to see what they have to say.

I am sorry not to help more.

    All the best,

    Catherine
