Post Nasal Cartilage Removal

Hello

My husband went through treatment a few years ago for SCC in his throat caused by HPV

They recently removed a nasal polyp "out of precaution" which turned out to be SCC in situ and so reported to remove extra tissue and a small amount of his septum.

He is nearly 3 weeks post surgery and still suffering with dizziness and headaches....he saw his consultant a week ago who had expected these symptoms to pass more quickly but wasn't overly concerned.

Anyone advise whether this can be expected and best course of action.

Thank you

Mel

  • Hello and thanks for posting,

Unfortunately, we can't give you specific information about this, as an individual patient's recovery will vary.

The specialist has assessed him, and doesn't appear to be particularly concerned as you say. Most procedures can take up to six weeks to fully recover, so hopefully things will improve soon. There may be some swelling and this can affect the inner ear which causes dizziness.

There may be medication that might help with the headaches and dizziness so he could ask his GP.

    Kind regards,

    Vanda
