Is it possible to have womb cancer and received a negative smear test result? I had a smear test in March and last week got a hysteroscopy and endometrial biopsy done, is it possible to be diagnosed with cancer?

Hello Audrey F and thank you for your post
I am sorry to hear about the symptoms you are having and appreciate undergoing tests can be an anxious time, I imagine even more so when you have had cancer in the past.
Cervical screening is to check for abnormalities in the cervix, unfortunately it cannot detect any other cancer.
Try not to over think things for now though, the doctors are carrying our further tests to find out more and there are many other causes for irregular periods other than cancer, so hang in there for now. Endometrial cancer is also far more common in older ladies who have already gone through the menopause, so hopefully there is a more simple explanation for you.
Once all the tests have been done and the information gathered the doctors will know what is going on hopefully and can explain what may need to happen next.
I do hope everything is okay for you. Please get back to us if you need any more information or support. The nurses are here weekdays 9-5 on 0808 800 4040.
Best wishes,
Naomi
