I did the cold cap and felt not too bad until i got home and felt the effects kick in. Ever since sat my head has not felt right constant headache feeling like a woozy feeling , feel like my ears are muffled too. I am really struggling to get any relief from this feeling in my head. Top it all off started with sore throat yesterday too.

is this feeling normal?

I would really appreciate any help

  • Hi Helstonsa, sorry to hear you are feeling rough. I had chemo from December til March for breastcancer too . For about three days I would have fuzzy ,foggy head . No sore throat , give your chemo unit a ring to make sure all is well and check if you have a temperature. Let me know how you get on xxx

  • Hello and thanks for your post

Scalp cooling can be effective in preventing or reducing hair loss in some people. Unfortunately there are some side effects associated with scalp cooling which you can read about by clicking here.

As you can see headaches can occur and some people are mildly affected by this, where as others can be more affected . Taking a mild painkiller like paracetamol may help. It's possible you could be developing a cold. If you don't feel any better over the weekend then do call your breast care nurse or GP for advice.

Before you have your next treatment, there are some useful tips for helping you cope with scalp cooling that you might find helpful.

Do ask for some painkillers before you have scalp cooling to reduce the risk of developing a headache. Bring extra layers of clothing with you to put on and bring or ask for a blanket to help you keep warm. Also drinking hot drinks can make you feel warmer.

I hope this helps. Give us a ring if you would like to talk anything over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Best wishes,

    Celene
