Thyroid problems

Hi everyone,

I have a question, I am sorry if it seems to be a small problem.

I have several more serious health issues going on unfortunately and today I talked to my GP. He told me that something is going on with my thyroid as well based on my blood test results. My TSH and freeT4 results were also high. He told me that itt seems there would more than enough TSH in my system but it cannot absorb it. He said he would talk to an endocrinologyst about it.

Please can anyone explain it a little bit better for me? I know itt may be 'nothing', but it affects so many things for me.

Thank you!

Sue

  • Hello Sue and thank you for posting.

I am sorry you have these health concerns, but it will be difficult for anyone to tell you what may be going on. What we can say is this does not necessarily mean you have cancer, but that you have some blood test results that are out of normal range.

Your doctor is referring you to an endocrinologist who specialises in thyroids, so they will look into this for you.

Here is further information from the British Thyroid Organisation if helpful.

Take care, and if you want to talk things through you may find it helpful to chat with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9 am till 5 pm Monday to Friday.

    Yours sincerely,

    Sarah.
