Can something appear so quickly??

Have a mole type raised lump appeared on my shoulder blade, literally within weeks. Really, really itchy....thought it was a bite....and itching last night, which caused it to bleed, which made me take more notice. Seems to be brown in colour, definitely wasn't there a month again....is it possible for something to develop this quickly, quite noticeable in a matter of weeks??? Not a fan of the doctors and have a surgery where you can literally never get an appointment. Combined with neck pain and arm pain on that side...could that be associated with it?

  • Hello, and thanks for your post,

I would try and make an appointment with your GP so they can examine the area and give their expert medical opinion.

Moles are very common and most of the time this is what it may be but we can't diagnose you so I would persist in making an appointment. Sometimes you can make an appointment online particularly if you are having difficulty getting through to the receptionist.

The doctor may suggest that you send them a photograph. Try not to irritate it by scratching it if you can possibly can. If the doctor feels that it needs to be investigated further then they may refer you to a dermatologist.

We have some information about seeing your GP and how they may assess your mole which you can see here

The neck and arm pain may be completely unrelated so try not to overthink it all for now.

I do hope you manage to see your GP. Do remember that is what they are there for.

    All the best,

    Catherine

  • Thank you for reply. Have managed to see GP this morning, they were really good. Have been referred to be seen in 2 weeks.
