CA cells

Hello just looking for a bit of clarification i had a abnormal smear and then a colposcopy and the results showed something so i was called back in for another biopsy where i was told i have CA cells found from the first biopsy but they didnt give me any other information

My question is does anyone know what CA cells are? Looking online its coming up as cancerous cells. My mind is working overtime and i just want to know if it is cancerous cells or is it precancerous cells. Thank you

  • Hello Budblue and thanks for posting,

I'm afraid I can't really clarify what was said when you went for the colposcopy. I think only the colposcopy clinic can do this so I suggest you get in touch with them to ask someone to explain things properly.

The idea of cervical screening is to detect abnormal and potentially pre-cancerous cells, assess them and then decide if they need to be treated or monitored until they go back to normal. Occasionally very early cervical cancers are picked up through screening but these aren't at all common so it is more likely that precancerous cells were detected.

I am sorry I can't be more helpful, I do hope you can easily get in touch with someone at the clinic who can clear this up.

If you want to talk anything over please do give us a ring on 0808 800 4040, we are around weekdays from 9-5.

    Best wishes,

    Julia
