112 weeks of taxel treatment and very anxious

Im just about to have my 12th treatment for BC with bone mets. Ive been doing well on the treatment and had a reduction in pain but recently I had a CT scan and am very anxious waiting for the results. I am trying to exercise, mainly walking and gentle activities but find that this increases the pain and I do not know if I am doing the right thing.

I am starting to feel really desperate that I wont be able to walk properly again as I would expect to feel a significant improvement after 12 treatments? I have an OP appointment with a consultant on Friday to get the CT results .

Im  starting to feel like the treatment has not worked!!

  • Hello and thanks for posting,

I am sorry to learn that you are waiting for CT scan results - I think this can often be a difficult time as it is only natural to worry about the outcome.

Even without a noticeable improvement in symptoms, treatment can still be working if it has stabilised the cancer and stopped things from getting worse.

I'm afraid I can't give you any advice about how active you should be at the moment, but this is certainly something to ask your consultant about on Friday. Given that it  increases your pain, it might be sensible not to over do things for now.

I expect it will be a challenge, but if you can, try and distract yourself with diverting and /or relaxing activities while you are waiting for the appointment.

Please do call us if you want to talk anything over. Our number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and we are around weekdays from 9-5.

    Wishing you the best,

    Julia
