Dents in head, unsure if it is changing or always been there.

Im 16 years old, female. No family history of cancer that I know about. The only thing I have diagnosed is anorexia (AN).

If I run my fingers down the middle of my head at the top near the back theres a dent maybe about 2 ish or smaller fingers wide and long. I think I've always had it and since its in the centre it may be normal, but on both sides of that dent near the bottom of it ( so still in the same area just very very slightly further back ) there are 2 dents the same size or smaller. I'm unsure if they have always been there or not and ontop of this one side of my cheek has a dented line / dent in it and I don't know if theres a correlation. Its been stressing me out a lot. It doesnt feel sensitive or sore to touch. My vision and memory is fine. Sometimes I feel sick but not much and may be stress related. I sometimes get small pains on one side of my head but that may be because sometimes I forget to drink water. So i dont know what else could cause the dents unless they are normal.

  • Hello and thank you for your email.

I don't think that feeling the dents in your back or face is caused by cancer.  However, if you are concerned do get checked out by your GP.

If you are worried, it might also help to talk it through with a parent or a trusted adult.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care,
