Really anxious

Hi

on the 16th august I went to see a colposcopy doctor as I previously had a biopsy in July that came back VIN3, on examination and another biopsy I was told it looks very much like cancer and a oncologist came to see me, she requested a MRI and a Macmillan nurse to ring me, the nurse did ring and told me that tomorrow a group of specialist will look at my case and advise treatment and I should get a call regarding an appointment

I have received a letter in the post today for an appointment 13th September, does this mean they have had the results and not discussing me tomorrow?

does this mean I have to wait for results another 2 weeks, already waited 2 weeks and it has been horrendous

why have my biopsy results not gone on MFT the previous one did before I had a follow up appointment

I am now wondering if things are not as bad as they first thought or are things worse?

am I able to ring my Macmillan nurse tomorrow, will she know what is going on

i thought I was coping this last 2 weeks but I think my pot has now boiled over and I am not coping, my emotions are all over the place and I may be overthinking things

I need to know my results before 13.09 how can I do this

please advise

  • Hello Debz64 and thank you for posting,

I am sorry you are having these concerns about biopsy results that you are waiting for.

I am unable to say exactly what is happening as we aren't part of your hospital team. But, what I can say is that they will be discussing you at an MDT(Multidisciplinary Team) meeting as everyone's case is. At an MDT they would decide on a plan if further treatment is needed. This would then all be discussed with you on your next appointment.

It may be a good idea to contact your Macmillan nurse, as they know you and your situation so will have more accurate answers at this time.

It can be so hard waiting for results and appointments. Everything feels so up in the air and may be difficult to concentrate on anything else. I hope you have some support during this time.

Take care Debz64 and if you want to talk anything through with one of the nurses on our helpline the number is Freephone 0808 800 4040. The lines are open from 9am till 5pm, Monday to Friday.

    Sarah.
