  • Hello there and thanks for posting

I am sorry to hear about your husbands situation and appreciate how upsetting this must be for you both.

Chemotherapy can cause different side effects for different people and whilst I would say bed wetting is not common, some patients are affected in this way. There are a few things that can cause this to happen including an increase in the volume of fluid going into the patients body alongside intravenous fluids. The nerves and muscles controlling the bladder can also be affected by chemotherapy drugs. Lymphoma as you know can zap people of all energy and it could be just as the doctor mentioned a result of him being in such a deep sleep at night.

Hopefully this will settle down soon but do mention this problem again to his specialist doctor and nurse so they are aware this is still an ongoing issue for him. In the meantime reducing what he drinks in the evening may help and if he would feel more comfortable to wear an incontinence pad at night then you may choose to but some of these just for the short term.

Memory can sometimes be impacted with cancer treatment but do also mention this to the specialist team involved when you can.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Best wishes

    Naomi
