and hi and welcome my lovely ? Xxx love Lara xxx

  • Hello there

I am so sorry for the delay in replying to you but your enquiry didn't reach the nurses enquiry system like it should have.

I hope this response finds you well.

You will have to forgive me but as you have given us very little information about your situation I hope the following information will be helpful to you.

We have some information about the different types of breast cancer here. There are 2 types of ductal cancer, firstly ductal carcinoma in situ (dcis) that is cancer cells contained within the milk ducts considered very early cancer or sometimes said to be a precancerous condition. Then there is invasive breast cancer, previously known as invasive ductal cancer that has broken outside of the milk ducts, which is the most common type of breast cancer.

A primary cancer refers to where about the cancer started in the body therefore with a ductal breast cancer the primary site would be the breast as identified by the biopsy sample looking at the type of cells under a microscope.

It is possible to find cancer cells in the breasts that have spread (metastasised) from another part of the body. However when this happens the cells when examined will be consistent with the primary tumour site usually.

Hopefully as it has been a while since you posted you have be able to speak with the doctors directly involved to gain understanding and have things explained to you.

Do get back in touch if you need to and again do accept our apologies for the time it has taken to get back to you.

    Best wishes

    Naomi
