Strange sensations after a breast biopsy.

I had a biopsy last Thursday and everything was fine for about 4 days, no pain at all.  On the 4th day the bruising started coming out which I know is normal and my breast was slightly swollen and still is.  I am also getting some pain now, not enough to revert to painkillers but its definitely there as well as weird tingling sensations in and over the skin of my breast. No sign of infection, not hot or red, no nipple discharge.  Is all this normal?  thank you.

  • Hello there and thanks for posting

I am sorry to hear you needed a breast biopsy. It isn't unusual to experience some swelling, bruising and some discomfort for a week or so after the test. If needed do take paracetamol to ease the pain. If however you notice the pain worsening and the area around the biopsy site becomes red or hot to the touch then let your doctor know in case of infection.

There is more information about breast biopsies here.

Do get back in touch if needed and I do hope everything turns out okay for you. Our line is open weekdays 9-5 on 0808 800 4040.

    Best wishes

    Naomi

  • Thanks Naomi,  keeping an eye on possible infection.  Its actually the tingling which is irritating me the most.
