Feeling well on Taxel

I know this sounds odd but Im concerned about how well I feel. I have had 6 rounds of taxel treatment for breast cancer and apart from tiredness for a day or 2 after treatment I feel so well.

I had breast cancer that spread to my bones and this caused a lot of pain and my painis starting  to reduce and my mobilty is starting to improve.

I  know everyone responds differently to a drug but I was expecting to feel really ill and I dont and this makes me wonder if the drug is working!

  • Hello anxiousallthe time and thanks for posting

I am sorry to hear about your situation and that you are currently undergoing chemotherapy.

Chemotherapy affects people in different ways and some people can breeze through treatment without any side effects.

Side effects are not a reflection on how well a treatment is working so please don't worry about this. Do also speak with your own team about any concerns you have and hopefully they can put your mind at ease.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care,

    Naomi

  • Hello there , I also had Taxel and was expecting to feel awful .Cooked loads of meals and froze them ,as some friends who had chemo couldn’t stand the smell of food either.I felt pretty good ,just a fuzzy head for about three days and tiredness .So don’t worry too much ,I just think it affects people differently , good luck x

  • Hi there,

I had EC then taxol for primary breast cancer.  I suffered a bit with EC (nausea mostly) but then when I moved onto paclitaxel I couldn’t believe how “normal” I felt.  It was a real delight!  My oncologist said most of his patients found it tolerable compared to other chemo.  So fingers crossed it’s doing a brilliant job for you, and just enjoy the lack of side effects.  Best wishes x

  • I had the AC after and also had a little nausea but nothing awful
