Moveable breast lump

Hello, I am terrified as I have a breast lump. . I have created a post in pre diagnosis and have been seeking support but only just found this ask the nurses theme. My lump is quite large, about 3-4cm and not rock hard but I think firm. It is moveable and I don’t think attached or fixed. Does this point more towards a cyst rather than cancer because of it’s size, moveability. I am so frightened and looking for any reassurance. I have appointment coming at the breast clinic I hope this week.

what did your GP say about the lump

I have seen here hard lumps soft lunps large small and all have different outcomes , when you get to the breast clinic you will have all the tests , maybe a biopsy if something looks like it needs one the only 100 percent accurate is to go to the breast clinic xx

only 2 in 10 referals end uo with a diagnosis so odds are on your side xxx

  • Dr said it’s smooth moveable and detached but still feels I should have a mammogram as have sister who died of BC aged 35

  • Chel

it’s good to get checked , there was no BC in my family on either side I was the first

so try not to worry I no that’s hard

sorry about your sister that’s so bad bless you xx

  • Is it tomorrow you’d appointment ?
can I ask how old you are ?

  • Hello Chelbel and thanks for posting

I am sorry to hear you have a breast lump that is bound to be a worry, especially as your sister had breast cancer at a young age.

I'm afraid no one can tell you any more until you have been seen at the breast clinic, so try and hang in there for now and hopefully the wait will be over soon.

As others have said on here, there are many other breast conditions that cause breast lumps that aren't cancer but it is only further tests will give more information about what this is.

Try not to over think this for now but rather keep your mind on other things whilst you wait.

I hope your appointment goes well and do get back in touch if you want or need to. Our number is 0808 800 4040 and we're here weekdays 9-5 if you prefer.

    Take care

    Naomi
