Advise CA125 rising

Hi

so I had a blood test and it was 36 , they then sent me for a ultrasound which came back clear , I then waited 6 weeks to have another blood test and it came back as 41

I then had an urgent appointment with the gynaecology team and they had a look at my stomach and done an internal examination.

and have now been referred to have a mri scan in a few days

I know it’s not risen much but all I have is worry

has anyone had anything similar and everything be okay ?

i have had a few symptoms of things … bloating , night sweats and struggling to go for a wee even with a full bladder .. I’m 28yrs old

  • Hello, and thanks for your post,

I am sorry to hear that you are having investigations and I can understand how worrying it can be.

A raised CA125 is an indication that there is inflammation in the pelvic area but this could be caused by many different reasons such as ovarian cysts or endometriosis as well as ovarian cancer. Ovarian cancer at your age is not common. The doctors need to find out why your CA125 is raised and the cause of your symptoms despite your ultrasound being clear.

Target Ovarian has some information about the CA125 test which you can read more about   here

Try if you can not to let your mind run away with you. Even though it is reassuring to hear other women's experiences do remember that everyone is so different so it is hard to compare what is happening to you with others.

You are more than welcome to ring and chat through this with one of the helpline nurses.

Our number is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and we are here Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm

    All the best,

    Catherine
