Autoantibodies

Hi I recently had a blood test for my lung health as I have a discomfort under my right rib cage and it came back positive for autoantibodies . This means I’m at higher risk of having lung cancer or getting it . I’m waiting on a CT scan now and I’m going up the walls with worry. I suppose I just would like to hear from anyone else who was in the same position as me and came out of it unscathed?

  • Hello and thanks for your post,

I can understand your current concern. Unfortunately, I don't think you are likely to get a response from other forum users about this, as this forum is really for people with a diagnosis of cancer, and/or their friends and family. We don't tend to have forum users who have other medical conditions, but not cancer, or having tests, as it isn't the right place for them really.

I'm sorry but we can't really offer anything specific, as in useful information, as autoimmune antibodies results can suggest several things, including lung conditions that aren't lung cancer.

You might find the forum available from Asthma+LungUK more useful perhaps, it is aimed at people with various lung issues/conditions,

Try and keep yourself busy and occupied whilst you wait for further information, and try to use the support of family and friends.

    Best wishes,

    Vanda
