Bleeding between periods

I’ve had bleeding between periods, occasional after sex, occasional bloody discharge for 3 years now. This has been raised with gp many times, they said my smear and ultrasound were fine and didn’t do any follow ups or anything. It’s still happening every so often. Do I need to fight this? If so what do I say?
Also, as I genuinely don’t know what’s normal, is it normal to have a squishy part at the bottom of your vagina that has no feeling in it? Like I can pinch it and can’t feel anything. Or is that likely to be a growth of some kind? I had it the last time I had a smear and for the vaginal ultrasound and no one said anything so I’m not sure if it’s actually always been there and I’ve never noticed or what. I didn’t mention it as i don’t want to just be laughed at again for not knowing basic anatomy. I have a routine smear in just over a week too if that’s useful. Just looking for any advice here as I don’t know if Im making a fuss over nothing. Thanks in advance.

  • Hello justanothermama and thanks for posting

Unfortunately no one here can tell you if this is anything to worry about or not.

It is good to hear your last cervical screening and ultrasound were ok but if the symptoms are ongoing do let your doctor know.

As you have an appointment soon for another screening you could mention this at the same time and see what they have to say. If the nurse is unsure or has any concerns of their own during the procedure they can ask the doctor to take a look.

It can be difficult to know what is normal/not normal in the body and seriously there is no question that is too silly to ask, so do share any worries you have at the appointment.

    Best wishes
