Paclitaxol side effects

Hi, I was told hip and leg pain were common with paclitaxol, as well as peripheral neuropathy. I am experiencing stomach cramps, pulsating pain in heel, leg, hip, ribs & neck as well as what is similar to the worse period pain and cramps I’ve experienced. I’m post menopausal and haven’t had a period in 17months. Are these known side effects, or is something else occuring?

  • Hello, and thanks for your post,

I am sorry to hear about the different symptoms you are experiencing. You sound like you are having a horrible time.

Everyone reacts to drugs in different ways. A lot of the side effects that you are having are listed on our website which you can see here

It is important to let your oncology team know about the various side effects that you are experiencing. They may decide to reduce the dose or give you some painkillers to help manage some of the side effects you are experiencing.

If you have an appointment coming up, you could wait to be assessed when you see them, but if you have a week or so, give the chemo helpline a ring to let your team know.

You have posted in 'Ask the nurses' but if you post on a different thread, you may find other responses from patients who are having a similar treatment.

You are welcome to ring and chat about any of this with one of the nurses on the helpline.

Our helpline number is Freephone 0808 800 4040.

    All the best,

    Catherine
