Angiomyiolypoma and ovaria tumour

I’ve been discharged from urology for having a small angiomyolypoma on my left kidney.  I also have a small tumour on my left ovary which is checked each year for growth but doesn’t appear to be growing or edges changing.  Should I be concerned they’re both on my left side, or is this just coincidental?

  • Hello and Thank you for contacting us.

You do not need to be concerned that these are both on your left side, as these are not related. But I would suggest you talk to the doctor so that you understand them both better.

Angiomyolipomas are generally benign (non cancerous) tumours found in the kidney. They very rarely cause problems, but the doctors keep an eye on them.

Much the same ovarian cysts are scanned and, if found to be a benign tumour/cyst, are often just monitored. If they grow to a certain size and cause symptoms they are removed.

Take care, and I hope that is useful.
