I had symptoms of low platelets dating back about eighteen months. Seemed to fluctuate at every blood test.

My nutrifils were somewhat lower than normal but red blood cells normal. Eventually referred to HAEMOTOLOGY.

The initial reason I contacted my GP was red blemishes appearing on legs and feet. I was referred to dermatology. On examination dermatologist said it was skin cancer and was going to prescribe chemotherapy cream. I asked for a biopsy. The result of which was thankfully no skin cancer, blemishes caused by capillaries leaking into skin. I later found out this is a symptom of thrombocytopenia. At the same time on researching the subject I discovered low platelets can be a side effect in a small number of people of COVID vaccine. As I had had innumerable problems since the third shot in October 21 I suspected that was the cause of my abnormal blood counts. One GP also thought this was possible. Because of my low platelets haemotology took me off clopidogril blood thinners which I had been taking for over two years due to a TIA. Surprisingly the thrombocytopenia symptoms have cleared and no bruising. Apparently I have no symptoms of CMML but abnormal blood counts and recieving watchful waiting to see what happens. I feel perfectly normal no thrombocytopenia etc. At the time of the diagnosis in may which was basically a five minute conversation which more or less said I am going to die with this disease but not yet.I was then given a brochure about CMML. I am still confused about the time it took to reach this stage and the fact that during consultations I was told cancer was not suspected. It seems it is a rare type of leukemia perhaps 3 cases per million every year. As I feel so well I am clinging to the hope this is a misdiagnosis. It is extremely stressful to feel great yet could be dead before Christmas or possibly be a lucky one who may survive a couple of years. Apologies for going on. You may think I am crazy but I still think the Pfizer covid vaccine is at the root of my problem. As an aside 3 days after my wife's 3rd Pfizer shot her blood pressure rocketed to 190/over 94. She now takes two medications to control it. Neither of us will touch a mRNA vaccine ever again.
