Advice please

Hi I'm 58 and hope I'm worrying unnecessarily but here goes. Mum died of ovarian cancer at 56. Around 9 years ago I had some menopausal prolonged heavy bleeding tests which said I had cysts on ovaries and polys in womb but all was ok. For about the last 6 months I permanently feel like I've eaten a Christmas dinner. Doesn't matter what it is or size of portion. I wake up feeling the same. Sometimes have a stabbing pain (but not often) in lower pelvic area. Should I be concerned or am I over thinking? Had diverticulitis last year. Very very rarely eat pre packed or processed food or take aways.

  • Hello and thank you for your post.

I am sorry to hear that your mum died of ovarian cancer and I can appreciate the worry about the symptoms you have.

However, I am afraid that we can't tell you what is the matter so the best thing to do is make a GP appointment to get checked out.

Your symptoms are not necessarily anything to do with cancer and could be due to the diverticulitis you have been diagnosed with, however, because you are worried do get checked out by your GP.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care,

    Caroline
