Lump on shin

Hi everyone

So for about 6 months I've had a lump on shin when I first got concerned I went to docs and was told nothing to worry about it's a fatty lump he took measurement anyway and it was 2cm×1.5cm.

I went back appx 2 months ago it just seemed bigger, it was a different doctor that saw me, she felt it (the last doc didn't he just looked and measured) it's immobile and 'soft, squishy'. And now measures apprx at 2.5cm x 1.5cm. She only recommended to keep an eye on it but didn't say anything about fatty lump.

Just for context I'm always on the lower end of bmi just above being underweight, so I wasn't too sure if fatty lumps would occur on me. Also this lump on sticks out if I'm cross-legged or on tiptoes, you can't see if I'm flat footed if that makes sense. I've just tried to ignore it anyway but my partner noticed how much my shin dents in surprisingly in the same place the lump is. Is there anyone who knows about fatty lumps and if these are signs, or should I go back to docs to bother them again.

Thank you all

  • Hello, and thanks for your post,

I would feel reassured that you have been checked by two GPs and both of them did not seem too concerned.

Lumps and bumps around the body are common and most will not be as a result of cancer.

We are unable to diagnose anyone over the forum but if it continues to cause you concern or it appears to be getting any bigger then do go back and see your GP. The NHS has some information on lipomas which are fatty lumps which you can see here

Try not to be too overly concerned. I would also stay away from Google which is very general and will not provide you with the information that you are looking for.

    All the best,

    Catherine
