Pre-invasive DICS result

I had a vacuum assisted breast biopsy on my left breast nearly 8 weeks ago, result came in 2 weeks later as above. It was a bit sore and I had a pulling sensation at that point but it settled down. Because there is a large area to take out and I have large breasts, I have elected to have surgery on both (melon) to attempt to keep them similar size/shape. This will happen in about 10 days and I am going for pre-med and discussion with the surgeon in three days. However, for nearly a week I have had a soreness under my armpit, I think I can feel a slight lump and I have a dull ache going down into my breast - a bit like mild toothache. If I take Ibuprofen it helps, there is no redness/fever or anything associated with infection and otherwise I am the same as normal except of course it is getting me down. I though it might be a lymph gland swelling so I read up on it and it says not to go to your GP unless it has been up for two weeks, and as I am seeing a specialist I thought I would leave it till I see her. Any ideas what this might be?

  • Hello and thanks for posting,

Breast tissue and the surrounding area takes a while to settle down, after an invasive procedure. Lymph nodes can react and generally also settle back down.

Do let your team know how you are, when you see them in a few days time.

I hope that things settle for you soon,

    Best wishes,

    Vanda
