Worried

I had some polyps removed during a hysteroscopy and the results have come back with precancerous cells. I had an appointment this Tuesday and a hysterectomy was recommended, which I agreed to. I’ve since found out that there is a 40% chance that cancer will be found once I’ve had the hysterectomy.  That sounds a really high percentage to me.  If cancer is found would it usually be early stage? I suffer from anxiety and the relief was immense when they gave me my results and it not being cancer, but now I’m getting stressed out again.

  • Hello and thanks for your post

It isn't very common to find cancer cells in endometrial polyps. So it’s possible that if cancer ( and most are not cancerous) is found during your surgery it is likely to be at an early stage. But only the doctors can confirm this for sure once they have the pathology results through.

I know waiting when you are worried is stressful but hopefully you will know more soon.
