pain after scans

Hi just a little query, I had some scans yesterday, ultra and trans vaginal ultra sounds. Going for hysterscopy on fast track under general. Sonographer was brilliant very effient and quick and no pain during scans, cant fault her. Was fine a first but about 2 hours after have had worsening back pain and pain in right side cramping, This is like the pain I experienced with the bleeding that sent me there in the first place, taking pain meds but its still there.  Is it normal to get some back pain ect after a scan. Is it just becuase I am a bit tender, just a bit worried as cant remeber pain last time. I had same procedure and polyps removed 23 months ago.

thanks

  • Hello and thanks for posting

It is not unusual to have some cramping and spasm after having an internal procedure such as a transvaginal ultrasound. Try and take some simple painkillers, such as Brufen or paracetamol to help. You can have some swelling there after, which may or may not be related to an underlying gynaecological condition.

It should resolve over the next few days. If it persists, or you experience any bloody vaginal discharge, then do seek medical advice.

    Best wishes,
