Colonoscopy results

I had a fit test which I found out was 400 very high

had my colonoscopy yesterday and the report said

3 grade 2 haemmoroids which I am asauming mean internal?  Could they give a result of 400?

the consultant didn't take any biopsies is this normal...he said my prep was fair does this mean he may not have seen something?

  • Hi Twinmum88 and thanks for posting.

It sounds like you are having a worrying time at the moment.

Grade 2 hemorrhoids are usually internal, but may be partly pushed out (prolapse) from the anus when you go to the toilet, and quickly spring back inside again.  I'm not sure whether they could give a FIT result of 400 but they could cause bleeding.

When the bowel prep for colonoscopy is described as fair, it usually means that about 90% of the colon can be seen when the procedure is carried out.  You said your doctor didn't take any biopsies, they will usually be taken when they see an area that they want to look at more closely.

It would probably be helpful for you to speak to the clinic where you had your procedure done, as they may be able to explain more about the report.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care,

    Rachel
