  • Hello Jenine1976 and thanks for posting.

I am sorry to learn that you have been diagnosed with early-stage cervical cancer. I can appreciate that this is a stressful time. I think a lot of people in similar sorts of situations feel overwhelmed.

When anything feels overwhelming I think breaking it down into manageable chunks can help - this is what taking things one step at a time is all about. I am not quite sure where you are in terms of finding out about your treatment, but I am guessing that the appointment with the consultant will be to explain things. Reading things up can be useful sometimes but it isn't always, at other times it can bog you down and send you around in circles without being much the wiser. The consultant will be able to explain exactly what this all means for you, so it is ok to simply wait to hear what they say and then look it up afterward if you need to.

For now, you could try just looking after yourself and doing things that help you to feel a bit calmer to steady your nerves and get through the inevitable stress that comes with any cancer diagnosis and having to wait. Distraction can be very helpful and you know what works for you.

I hope your appointment isn't too far away.

Please give us a ring if you want to talk anything over. Our number is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and we are around from 9-5 weekdays.

    Best wishes,
