A raised CA125 can occur for several different reasons. It is a test for any inflammation in the pelvic area. It can indicate cancer but it can also be caused by ovarian cysts which are benign(not cancer) or even an infection. It is a sensible precaution for the GP to find out the cause of your slightly raised CA125.

A normal CA125 is 35 and you said that your CA125 was 36 which as the GP said only really borderline. As you have been having other symptoms as well it is a sensible precaution to try and investigate the cause of your hot flushes and night sweats.
