Stage 4 bowel cancer with Peritoneal secondaries

My brother is being operated on today to have the tumor removed from his large bowel and 7 to 8 secondaries removed from his peritoneum, does anyone have any experience of this procedure, what is the success rate and how invasive  is the procedure? Any info would be great as not much info from my brother, thanks.

  • Hello Tiger800 and thanks for posting,

I am sorry to learn that your brother needs to have surgery for cancer and apologise that we weren't able to get back to you sooner.

By now I realise that your brother will have had his operation and hopefully, albeit early days, he is on the road to recovery.

It sounds like major surgery was planned but I can't be very specific about this although you probably know more now anyway.

With regards to how successful the procedure might be, I'm afraid I can't say - this is a question best put to his specialist team who know all about his situation and if any further treatment options are planned.

I hope things go smoothly for your brother.

If you want to give us a call please do. Our number is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and we are around from 9-5 weekdays.

    Best wishes,

    Julia
