Cyst drain

Good evening

I attended the hospital with my partner today as she was called after the results of a recent mammogram. She has several cysts in her breast however they were more interested in one. They drained the cyst but it immediately filled up with blood. At that point the Dr decided to take a core needle biopsy which was agony for her. We now have to wait for the results. Has anyone else had this happen?

Thanks x

  • Hello and thanks for your post

A core biopsy involves using a hollow needle to get a sample of breast tissue. Because tissue is taken rather than cells, it gives more detailed information. Several tissue samples may be taken at the same time.

You have posted in the Ask the Nurses section on the forum, if you add your post to another section you may find you get more responses from other patients.

Waiting for results can be stressful but hopefully your partner will know more soon.

    Kind regards,

    Celene
