Any older women receiving phesgo injections? I am 66.breast Cancer her2++ tumour size 20 ×27 mm. Radiotherapy 5 fractions would I be offered this treatment?

  • Hello there

You have posted on the 'ask the nurses' section of the forum so may find you get more responses from other patients if you also post in a different area as well as here.

Treatment decisions for each patient is made by the team involved in their care and looking at the details of their cancer as well as the health and fitness of the patient.

Usually patients whose breast cancer is Her2 +ve positive with an early cancer that has a high risk of coming back or an advanced cancer are offered a targeted drug. This is commonly known as Herceptin but the actual drug name is Trastuzumab. This can be given through an intravenous drip or as an injection under the skin. You can read about Trastuzumab here.

Some patients have the Trastuzumab on it's own and others in combination with chemotherapy or another targeted drug. This is the case with phesgo where an injection of Trastuzumab and Pertuzumab are given, there is more information about this here.

Discuss this when you can with your specialist nurse or doctor to find out if either of these treatment are suitable for you.

    Best wishes

    Naomi

  • Thankyou Naomi, I have been told from a research study nurse that I am low risk of cancer returning. Won't see doctor until 1 year check up. But will keep this in mind IF recurrence occurs. Pip
