I don’t know if it’s a brain tumor or health anxiety

Hi , for the last month or so I have been suffering with "head pressure" this happens on the left side of my head I sometimes get shooting pains that last seconds in my head that come for about 3 days then I don't get them for weeks and then it repeats in that pattern , I'm scared to leave the house because when I go out my pressure gets worse , the only reason I'm 50/50 is because we'll google said it's a brain tumor and the other half is because when I'm busy or not thinking it isn't there , my head also sometimes has "fluid" feeling... adrenaline feeling I just generally feel crap I'm scared Incase I have a tumor and today I have had pain in my left eye also.

  • Hello and thank you for your post.

I am sorry to hear that you are worried about headaches. These are usually due to poor sleep, being a bit stressed, or poor posture. Even sleeping on a poor pillow can strain the neck and cause a headache. Not drinking enough fluids can cause dehydration too, which can lead to a headache. So there are many possible explanations.

Eye strain from not using glasses will definitely contribute to having headaches. So, do wear any glasses regularly. Strengthening exercises to the neck and shoulder regions can also help. It may be a viral infection.

There is good helpful information about headaches on the NHS website here,

    www.nhs.uk/.../

You could ask your GP for advice first. Sometimes they make a referral to a hospital based migraine or headache clinic where they review people with ongoing headaches.

Try not to Google symptoms, it rarely helps and tends to increase anxiety. Brain tumours are in fact quite rare, straightforward headaches are very common in the general population and affect people of all ages.

I hope that you feel better soon.

    Kind regards,

    Vanda
