16 year old with large mole

Hi there

Terrified mum here. My 16 year old has had a mole on her back most of her life. I very rarely see it but when she got out of the bath I noticed it had like a fried egg bubble. Not big but on it. She is quite moley anyway but this one is bigger

She has never been sunburned or exposed to the sun without sun block.

She has just started her gcses and is already anxious and i am scared taking her to the drs with just add to that.

The mole is symetrical. Looks like a normal colour but just has this dome in the middle.

Can anyone help?

Thank you!

  • Hello and thanks for your post

Moles are common and the majority are harmless. But there are certain things to look out for in moles that we need to report to the doctor. Again, they don't necessarily mean they are anything to be worried about, however they do need to be properly assessed just to be on the safe side. GP's are very experienced at looking at skin conditions and are able to decide if someone needs further tests.

There is an ABCDE checklist that can be good to know about which you can take a look at on our website at this link.

I hope this is of some use. Give us a ring if you would like to talk anything over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Best wishes,

    Celene
