Toilet Issues

Hiya my names tom 17

Basically ever since the start of this year going toilets been a pain for me, Always constipated, bleeding.

Been to a doctor, They pressed around on my stomach asked if i feel discomfort and i replied no because there wasnt any, probed the inside of my rectum but didnt seem to see an issue except hemmoroids and fissures i guess i already have had. Went back to doctors following day for a blood test, said they would call in a weeks time if any issues and been a month now.

My problem is, i go toilet every 3 -7 days, Sharp pain as the poop passes out, followed with bright red blood at bottom of stool and on rectum. I try my best not straining but it gets to the point im annoyed and jus wanna go about my day. Poops always hard, Bleeding bright red, Sharp pain as it passes,

Im a massive wuss when it comes down to stuff like this and googles not exactly my friend in this scenario making me grip for the worst.

My diet ill admit isnt the greatest, probably dont get enough fiber, or eating the right things.

But when people talk about blood in stool everyone says go doctors to rule the worst out, thats why im worried. Dont bleed every single time i pass poop, only when i strain hard or get that sharp pain.

Completely embarrassed myself writing this but better out my gut than in

Like to add got no symptoms, no fatigue, aches, stomach pains, tiredness no discomfort, abdominal pain, nothing

Thanks

  • Hello there Tom

I am sorry to hear about the toilet issues you are having. No one here can say what the matter is but there is likely to be a simple reason for this other than bowel cancer.

Any cancer at your age would be rare, and from what you have said it sounds like you are straining when going to the toilet and then there is fresh red blood on the tissue, probably due to constipation, piles or fissures that your doctor could feel.

It is reassuring you have seen you GP and they weren't concerned. It sounds like they were only going to call you if the blood tests were abnormal so if they didn't they were probably ok. We always tell people to see their doctor again if they are worried about ongoing symptoms and at the same time you can ask about the blood test results. Some people who have constipation sometimes are prescribed gentle laxitives to try and soften up the poo and make it easier to pass.

There is a section about constipation on the NHS website here. Do try and improve your diet if you can. Eat a healthy and balanced diet high in fibre, and ensure you drink plenty of water as well. Regular daily exercise can also help keep the bowel moving in the right direction.

Do speak with your doctor again when you can and stop googling for now, as it is unlikely to help you.

    Take care

    Naomi
