CT scan

I really am a bit lost in what to think now. I've had a lot of investigation over the last few weeks, bloods, biopsy, scans etc and was told by consultant that they are holding an MDT on Tuesday (Tomorrow) to discuss my file and decide if I need a CT or MRI. The consultant was clear that I would not be booked for either of these until discussed at MDT. Last Wednesday I had a uterine biopsy and CA19-9, still waiting for results. Consultant secretary phoned me earlier to advise that consultant would like to book me in for a CT scan as she feels its needed sooner rather than waiting, I asked if my results are back and she said she does not have any results to view but the consultant might have access to them.

Why would they book a CT before its gone to MDT unless results are back and they have shown something?

I have a hysteroscopy on Wednesday and waiting to hear about CT scan.

I'm really stressing now.

  • Hi there and thanks for posting

I'm sorry to hear about the symptoms you have and the tests you have had the past few weeks, this understandably is a worrying time for you.

I'm afraid no one here is going to be able to say why the consultant has decided to request the CT scan before the MDT today.  This may be related to the results from the biopsy and blood tests you had carried out last week but only the doctor can tell you more, anyone else's opinion would be a guess for now.

Waiting and not knowing is unsettling but figuring out what might be the matter takes time and the doctor/s often need to run a series of different tests to build up the bigger picture about what is happening and what treatment is best.

Sit tight for now and hopefully you will know more very soon. Do get back in touch if you would like to or give us a call on 0808 800 4040 weekdays 9-5.

Wishing you all the very best

    Take care

    Naomi

  • I had ultrasounds followed by hysteroscopy with biopsies taken all at my first appointment (Sat) with the MDT meeting to be held on the Thursday. I had a phone call on the Monday (so before MDT) to say that I would need an MRI and CT scan and in fact got a phonecall the next day for the MRI to be on the Weds (so also before MDT). So you are not alone.

In my case they had found cysts on both ovaries and thickened womb lining and wanted further imaging to help with assessment. Results were benign-looking cysts - and biopsies came back all clear.

I totally understand the worry and the stress and all that waiting. Just remember that CT and MRI are just tools to help with diagnosis. I wish you well for the results as well as the tests you still have to come

  • That sounds really positive. Thank-you for your reply.

My CA125 is high at 141 and I have thickened lining and a 6cm cyst with a solid mass inside and some irregularity.

I know in my own head it's 50/50 and just need to wait it out to get the diagnosis. Either way they have said I'll be having surgery anyway so I guess that's even more of a reason for all the testing so the appropriate surgery is carried out I guess.

    Thanks again

  • Thanks for your reply, I know I just need to let them do what they need to do to get the full picture.

Hopefully it won't be long till I start getting some answers.
