Frightened could be cancer

I went for a Ent appointment 2/3 weeks ago and they found a swelling behind my nasal polyp. she said she needs a biopsy and a mri and ct. she said she didn't think it was cancer with how long I've had the polyps but she said 'I need to rule out cancer' just the word has sent me into a spiral.

I've had my mri and my cT and just waiting for the results. I've been having headaches lately every single day and feeling unwel. I'm connecting these to my nose swelling and trying to unconvince myself (is that a thing??) that I don't have cancer that's spread to my brain.

  • Hello and thanks for your post

I know it’s easier said than done but try to keep an open mind. Nasal lumps and polyps are common and most of the time are nothing serious, but they need to be checked out to be sure.

When people have a health worry, they can be drawn to the internet to look for answers, this often doesn't help as it can take them around in circles without being much the wiser and keep things at the front of their minds.  Distraction and exercise are usually better ways of coping.

For now, try not to dwell too much on what the test results may find and take things one step at a time.

I hope you know more about your situation soon.

    Best wishes,

    Celene
