Carcinoma

I have a facial Basal cell carcinoma which started last autumn and I alerted my GP in January with pictures, then a GP visit where he took pictures and a referral in march, I've just been informed by the hospital that I'm on a 58 week waiting list. Obviously there's the private option. I would like Mohs proceedure as it seems most successful. Wher can I get this?

  • Hello and thanks for your post

Waiting any length of time to be treated can be very stressful Basal cell carcinomas (BCC) are the most common type of skin cancer that typically grow very slowly and don't usually spread, and are rarely serious. Treatment to remove a BCC isn't regarded as urgent and people often have to wait several months for treatment. You can read more about this by clicking here.

I'm afraid we do not  have a list of private clinics that offer the Mohs procedure. You can look up private services on this link.

You can also ring up the well known private hospitals such as BUPA or Nuffield or Spire, who may have hospitals in your local area.

Sometimes, NHS consultants also do some private work. Your GP can advise you further on this.

I hope this is of some help to you. Give us a ring if you would like to talk anything over. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Kind regards,

    Celene
