Polyps removed - 18 months later results of biopsy

Hello 

I have been reading lots of articles on here.

my husband had several polyps removed 18 months ago via keyhole due to size and location, he had many symptoms from gas, stomach bloating to filling the toilet with blood on passing stools 

gladly the bleeding has stopped. 

 

18 months down the line, he gets a call from the specialist to say one of the polyps has tested for cancer. Nothing to worry about, you don't need to be anxious but we need send you an appointment To check the area and make sure nothing more requires removing.

 

on reading your site it's says about a week for the results we assumed that no news was good news , am

i overthinking now with the timescale before further contact?

    It sounds like you are having a worrying time at the moment.

    I'm afraid I can't tell you why your husband did not get his results at the time he had surgery.  It would be good to ask the specialist about this, so you can both understand more about the situation.

    You mention that he is now having a follow up to make sure that nothing more needs removing.  He could ask any questions he has at this appointment if he has a date for it.  If not he could leave a message with the specialist's secretary to ask them to contact him.

    Hello Rachel Thank you for taking the time to reply, Will definitely ask why he was not informed earlier, is this a normal process as says online the results of a biopsy usually takes a week or so Thank you

    It normally takes about 2 weeks to get results but some people have reported waiting longer than this. This is because there are regional variations in different NHS Trusts because of a shortage of NHS laboratory staff.

    As my colleague Rachel mentioned in her previous reply, I'm afraid we can't tell you why your husband did not get his results at the time he had his surgery.  Hopefully, the specialist will be able to shed some light on this for you both soon.
