High fit and calprotectin

So after a few months of random symptoms nightsweats fatigue, bleeding and mucus stools.

I though wise to discuss with my G.P.

I went for bloods all normal apart from elevated crp.

Fit test of over 400 and calprotectin of over 5000.

Been referred to colorectal team on a 2 week wait pathway.

I can't talk to anyone in my family about these results,as my dad is struggling with stage 3 pancreatic inoperable cancer. So all my family are already reeling.

I am so scared and feel so alone .

Please can anyone help me to make sense of this.

Has anyone else had these results and had good news at the end of it.

  • Hello Bexf and thank you for your post.

I realise that it must be a worry to have abnormal test results but this still does not necessarily mean you have cancer. There could be other types of health conditions, less serious than cancer, causing these results. It is reassuring to know that you will have this further investigated, so hold tight for now.

I can appreciate you want to know if anyone else has had these results but please be careful asking this because the results of tests can affect everybody differently.

I hope you have some support at this time and are able to keep your mind of this for some of the day. Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care,

    Caroline
