Indentation and burning pain.

Heya everybody, I'm 33 years old and I have indentation and a burning pain top of my left breast, is this normal or should I go to the doctors, I don't really want to go to the doctors to waste they time if it's nothing. Tia any information would be much appreciated.

  • Hi

My personal view is if you have a visable indentation I would definitely go to gp to assess. It might be nothing to worry about but if you have pain as well, you could need antibiotics or need to be referred on.

I had this a few years ago and it ended up being non-lactational mastitis (both my kids ate grown up). It got worse very quickly and became very painful and was put on antibiotics and referred to breast clinic, I was left with some necrosis which took months to heal but I'm thankful it wasn't sinister. But as with any infection, they can turn nasty so it's best to get checked out.

    Take care

  • Hi,

It is never a waste of doctors time! I'm 36 and noticed an indentation right near my nipple which I left for a couple of weeks and then felt a large thickened area (like a large mass not a small pea size lump) alongside it so phoned the doctors straight away. I felt like they are going to turn me away for being young and over cautious but they took it seriously and that has (hopefully!) saved my life xxx

  • Thank you I will book appointment, and I wish u all the best.

  • Hello and thank you for your post,

As everyone here has said in their reply to you, do go to your GP about it. It is not necessarily anything to do with cancer but you may need to be treated for it and it is the only way of, hopefully, getting some peace of mind.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Yours sincerely,

    Caroline
