20mm fibroadenoma

After having my third baby I found a lump, it was confirmed to be a 20mm fibroadenoma U3. They were pretty certain it was all ok so said to wait 3 months for a biopsy due to me just stopping breastfeeding.

I went back 3 months later and the lump had gone but now 3 months later it's back again, not as big but it's there. What should I do?

I should say my periods have been all over the shop and I was on the pill but have recently stopped taking this to see if they would go back to a more normal cycle as they are every 10-14days.

  • Hello there

No one here can say for sure what this lump is although if you have had a fibroadenoma before there is a possibility of it coming back, increasing in size or developing another one.

As I'm sure you are aware fibroadenomas here are common. It is thought they may be triggered by change in hormones which is why they often grow in pregnancy and then reduce down and settle afterwards.

It is always best to see your GP if you are worried about a breast lump so they can assess you and if needed refer you back to the breast unit.

Try not to overthink this too much but do see someone about it when you can for your own peace of mind.

    Take care

    Naomi
