Ovarian cyst and free fluid found in pouch of Douglas

Hi I'm worried sick . For years I've been having endometriosis type symptoms. Last Saturday I went for an ultrasound and transvaginal where they found a small cyst on my left ovary (3mm) I think and some free fluid in the pouch of Douglas 30mm . The Dr now wants me to do a CA125 blood test which I'm terrified will come back as high and Im so scared it will turn out that my symptoms where actually signs of ovarian cancer . I'm 23 years old and some of my symptoms are painful periods . Pain in lower belly throughout the month usually if stressed or certain foods . Pain sometimes during and after sex . If anyone could help put mind at rest if be very greatful thankyou !

  • Hello Emily1999 and thank you for your post,

I can appreciate your worry, but please remember that your symptoms and ultrasound scan results do not necessarily mean you have cancer.

Be reassured that you are now being investigated to see what is the matter and your symptoms could be caused by conditions that are far less serious than cancer.

No one here can tell you what is the matter but hopefully, someone will come along with their own experience that might be helpful. You might also find posting in another area of Cancer Chat (you can see the list of areas to the left of this page) allows more people to see your post.

Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Take care,

    Caroline

  • Hi  - I have just come across yoour post. I'm 25 and going through something very similar with almost identical symptoms. What was your outcome? Also out of interest did you have any leg pain on the same side of your cyst?

    Thanks!

  • Hi, I have just seen your reply to this. I’m also 25 and going through a similar experience (although no pelvic fluid). Happy to chat if that would be helpful!

  • Hello LilyDel, and thank you for posting.

I just wanted to pop on and say hello. It has been 10 months since the last posting, so you may not get an answer from Emily1999.

It is good to see that you have had a reply from petal88. I am sorry to learn of your situation, I hope you are OK and your situation does improve soon.

    Take care all the best
