CA125 raised post menopause

10 weeks ago I went to my Dr with pain to left side, nausea and constant ruination. Following blood tests my CA125 came back as 81. I went onto the 2 week referral and have had ultrasounds and MRI with clear results apart from a small cyst to my left ovary but one my Dr wouldn't think would cause pain. I was given a follow up blood test by the hospital and my result was 79 so coming down, my pain became more dull. However last week the pain returned and is ready bad. I asked my Dr for a repeat blood test and my CA125 is now 93. I tried contacting gynae to day but couldn't get through on the phone so I emailed to see if my appointment could be bought forward or if I could speak to someone but this is not available. I'm feeling very rough and worried ( which isn't helping)

BTW I'm 58 yrs old

Any thoughts on my situation?

thanks

  • Hello and thank you for posting.

I'm glad that your ultrasound and MRI have come back clear, but understand that you are worried about your CA 125 result and pain.

Unfortunately no one on here is going to be able to tell you what may be going on. Anyone with similar experiences will have situations individual to them.

The CA125 blood test is not a cancer diagnosing test, a raised level can mean a number of things for example menopause or endometriosis.

It can be so difficult waiting for results and appointments, particularly when symptoms feel they are worsening, but it is only at that appointment will you get the information you need.

Do write down your symptoms and your concerns so that when you attend you see the Gynaecology doctor you can discuss with them fully how you are feeling.

Take care and I hope you get more information soon.

    Sarah
