Worried!!!!!

I've been to the doctors today betibe been worried about one of my breasts feeling different to the other one. Firmer and harder and bigger. Hard to describe. The doctor examined me. I told her that I've been like for for about a year. She said yes I can feel what you mean I'm 99.9 persent sure that it's normal breath tissue. But she said I can refer you to the breast clinic. I said yes please do. She has done. I'm worried sick. Can't eat and sleep. Constantly can't stop crying thinking it's cancer and I'm dying!!! I'm only 20 years old as well. She's said I will have an ultrasound. Any advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks Beth

    Hi Beth, I'm sorry to hear you're going through all this stress. You are doing the right thing getting this checked out but very few people who are referred to the breast clinic are diagnosed with cancer, especially at a young age. There are many other conditions that can cause changes but I think our minds can immediately go to cancer. Best of luck with the appointment xx

    I understand it can be a worry to notice a change in your body but there could be many reasons for this.

    At your age breast cancer is rare so there is likely to be another explanation.

    The ultrasound at the breast unit will be able to check this out and hopefully give some answers about what the problem may be.

    There is information here on the Breast Cancer Now website aimed at teenagers about breast changes that may still be useful for you to take a look at.

    Waiting for tests can be an anxious time but people say keeping busy and your mind on other things can help. It is important to try and eat and get the rest and sleep your body needs otherwise this can make you feel much worse.
