Biopsy for suspicious nodule

So I've got my biopsy tomorrow, this if for a lump near my right eye

it says it's a incision biopsy, will this mean I've gotta go back to get the rest of it removed or should the incision biopsy alone remove it

I've been looking at Google (bad I know) and can't find the answers

Thanks x

  • Hello accxx and thanks for posting,

An incision means a surgical cut, so an incisional biopsy means some tissue will be cut away. Usually, if an entire lump is removed it is called an excisional biopsy.

I'm afraid I don't know what will happen tomorrow, it might be that they do take all of the nodule away, but I can't say for sure. I think you will have to wait until you get to the hospital to find out.

Whatever happens, I hope it goes smoothly. When you are there, ask how long it will be before the tissue examination results come back and who will be getting in touch with you about them.

    Wishing you the best,

    Julia
