Prostate hormone treatment

Hi I am receiving hormone treatment (for prostate cancer) via injection into my stomach every 12 weeks, 3rd one due in 2 weeks time. Over the past few weeks I have noticed I am more fatigued, known side affect, but also my balance is affected. Have any one had similar issues?

  • Hello there

You have posted on the 'ask the nurses' section of the website, and whilst anyone can pop on here and say something you may get more responses if you also post on a different thread.

As you know it isn't uncommon for people to experience some side effects with hormonal treatment and this includes things such as tiredness and fatigue. I don't think balance issues is a commonly reported side effect so whilst this could still be a possibility there may be another cause.

There is more information about the side effects of these hormone injections on our website here. Of course if a patient notices something that is concerning or you are unsure about it is always best to speak to your doctor, so they can assess you properly for what the cause may be.

I hope this helps but do get back or call us on 0808 800 4040 weekdays 9-5 if you prefer.

    Take care

    Naomi

  • Hi Naomi

I think it is possibly connected to the fatigue and concentration. I start my radiotherapy on 3rd May so will ask the team there. I had non-hodgkins lymphoma last year finishing chemo late June and now in remission. My tiredness/fatigue now is very similar to how I was feeling after the chemo finished.

    Thankyou for replying promptly.

    Regards

    David
