Cervical and groin lymph node swollen.

Hey guys, really unsure of what to do at the moment, found a swollen lymph node on the rear of my neck, had it checked out and it was around 3 centimeters, so I was pretty concerned but the doctor said its probably not serious and has booked me in for an ultrasound in 2 weeks.

Since the appointment I have noticed an enlarged lymph node on my upper inner thigh near my groin also, all of which are painless and rather firm.

I have been ill recently, rather fatigued with a stuffy nose but they said that was sinusitis as I suffer from it multiple times per year.

Should I be overly concerned at this point?

I haven't slept in days and I have no clue what to do.

Thanks!

  • Hello JJ and thanks for posting,

I am sorry to learn about these swollen nodes and that recently you have been feeling ill and aren't sleeping well.

I am afraid I can't tell you if anything is the matter so I don't know if you need to feel particularly concerned, but I think many people with unexplained symptoms do worry until their doctors make a diagnosis.

As the swollen lymph node near the groin is a new symptom you could let your GP know. They might want to get that one scanned as well at your ultrasound appointment but I can't be sure that they will.

Seeing the doctor is the best way to find out what is causing symptoms and it sounds like your doctor is taking you seriously and arranging tests. It can take a while for the doctors to decide what is going on but hopefully you will find out more soon. In the meantime try and keep an open mind, symptoms including swollen nodes can occur for a variety of reasons and don't have to be caused by anything as serious as cancer.
